The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has dealt a significant blow to banditry in Niger State, neutralising scores of armed criminals and dismantling their logistics base in Alawa Forest, Shiroro Local Government Area.

This decisive operation, executed under the Air Component of Operation FANSAN YAMMA (AC OPFY), took place on January 21, 2025, following credible intelligence that exposed the influx of terrorists into the area.

The bandits, notorious for their violent activities, including the deadly IED attacks in Bassa on December 19, 2024, were targeted in a three-day air offensive code-named “KONAN DAJI.”

Fighter jets unleashed precision strikes on their hideout, resulting in multiple explosions that confirmed the destruction of their logistics hub and the elimination of numerous fighters.

The NAF, working in tandem with ground forces, has reaffirmed its commitment to eradicating all threats in the region, vowing to restore peace and security for the affected communities.

Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Vice Marshal Olusola F. Akinboyewa, assured Nigerians of the sustained resolve to maintain operational dominance across the nation.
