The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. Kayode Egbetokun, has reaffirmed his commitment to building a more professional and accountable Nigeria Police Force.

Speaking during a virtual conference held on January 13, 2025, with strategic managers, including Commissioners of Police (CPs) and Assistant Inspectors-General (AIGs), the IGP outlined key reforms aimed at improving the Force’s efficiency and public trust.

Commending officers for their efforts in 2024, the IGP called for enhanced anti-crime strategies to tackle criminal activities more effectively in 2025.

He announced immediate specialised training for Criminal Investigation Department (CID) investigators, stressing the need to equip them for handling complex cases.

The IGP also mandated reorientation courses for all personnel, focusing on professionalism, human rights, community policing, and ethical conduct.

Egbetokun, introduced weekly lectures at all command levels to ensure continuous development.

These sessions according to him, will update officers on legal frameworks, technological advancements, and best practices in policing while fostering interactive learning and accountability.

The IGP urged commanders to uphold public peace, ensure accountability, and lead by example, emphasising that supervisors will bear responsibility for their subordinates’ misconduct.
