Borno Attack: IGP Orders Clampdown on Cop Killers, Pledges Justice for Fallen Officers

The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has condemned the deadly attack on the Nganzai Divisional Police Headquarters in Borno State, which claimed the lives of two officers, Inspector Bartholomew Kalawa and Corporal Mustapha Huzaifat.
The tragic incident occurred in the early hours of January 9, 2025, leaving the nation in mourning.
Responding to the attack, the IGP directed the Assistant Inspector-General of Police for Zone 15, Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, to deploy all necessary resources and collaborate with security agencies to apprehend those responsible.
He stressed that no stone would be left unturned in bringing the attackers to justice.
The IGP expressed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, assuring them of full support and prompt payment of entitlements.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to safeguarding lives and ensuring accountability for any act that undermines national security.
Just as investigations intensify, the IGP’s firm stance sends a clear message that perpetrators of violence against law enforcement will face the full weight of the law.
