ECOWAS President Assesses ECOMIG Readiness in The Gambia

The President of the ECOWAS Commission, H.E. Dr. Omar Alieu Touray, visited the ECOMIG Force Headquarters in Bakau, The Gambia, on January 3, 2024, to evaluate the mission’s progress and readiness to fulfill its mandate.
Dr. Touray commenced the visit with an inspection of the Quarter Guard at the Forecourt of the Force Headquarters.
He received a comprehensive briefing on the operational activities of the personnel and the challenges faced by the mission.
The visit underscores ECOWAS’s commitment to maintaining peace and security in the region while ensuring that the ECOMIG forces remain equipped and prepared to deliver on their mandate.
