The ECOWAS Group at the United Nations has adopted new guidelines to enhance the representation of its member states in UN committees, organs, and specialised agencies.
During its final sitting in 2024, the group, in collaboration with the ECOWAS Permanent Observer Mission to the UN, developed the guidelines to strengthen the candidatures of ECOWAS member states.
This move aims to promote regional cohesion and increase the influence of West African nations within the UN’s statutory bodies.
The initiative underscores ECOWAS’s commitment to ensuring equitable and strategic representation for its members on the global stage.
