A United States of American trained Professor of Computer Science, Okey Igbonagwam, has stated that the challenges of Nigerian nation were self inflicted.
The visiting University don and retired Technical Director, Department of Defense who hails from Obazu Mbieri,Mbaitolu Local Government Area, Imo State spoke on the sideline on Friday January 3,2025 during the 90th birthday celebration of Mrs Grace Anusiem in Owerri.
According to the IMO State born Professional based in Florida, there is more to leadership making for greater impact on the living condition of the people.
He insisted that good leadership builds on people as well as laying solid structure towards sustaining the things put into place.
He went on applauding the transformational steps taken by Abia State government under Dr Alex Otti towards building better socioeconomic structure in the state.
Igbonagwam who came in with a team of Americans maintained that in their visit to Aba in Abia State recently showed clearly that our challenges as a nation were never beyound reversal but,calls for purposeful leadership. He states that Abia State which few years ago was like a ‘garbage dump’ is today wearing a new look with great prospect.
Moreso, he frowned at the current state of our youths with their orientation tilted towards get- rich -quick vices or promotion of wealth without work cum verifiable sources and called for a behavioural change extolling values evidenced through honest living and integrity.
In addition, Igbonagwam, grand father who is married to an American for forty(40) years and counting said that he has continued to encourage his children as Igbos’ to only pick things that make for the best across culture and move with same for better development.
He commended the celebrant for attaining 90 years, and praised the children for taking time to celebrate their mother while alife.
On his own Rev fr (Dr) Boniface Anusiem poured encomium on the mother for attaining 90 years and still strong. He stated that grace and lifestyle were major determinants in the mother’s attaining old age.
