In an effort to safeguard citizens, the Nigerian Armed Forces executed a coordinated operation on Christmas Day, neutralising the Lakurawas Terrorist Group (LTG) at Gidan Bisa and Gidan Runtuwa in Silame Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
The joint effort, involving the Air and Land Components of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, followed extensive intelligence gathering, including surveillance missions and human intelligence reports.
Precision airstrikes, launched at dawn, destroyed key terrorist hideouts, arms caches, and logistics dumps, triggering secondary explosions.
Ground troops blocked escape routes and conducted post-strike assessments, confirming the operation’s success.
According to the Director Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba, locals corroborated intelligence that the area had been a hub for terrorist activities.
He emphasised the military’s commitment to minimising civilian casualties while maintaining unrelenting pressure on terrorist groups across the nation.
