The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially recognised Barrister Sly Ezeokenwa as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, following a Supreme Court ruling.

In a press release issued yesterday INEC confirmed that it has been served the apex court’s judgment in APGA & ANOR vs OYE & ORS (Appeal No. SC/CV/824/2024), delivered on November 27, 2024.

The Supreme Court’s decision resolved the long-standing leadership tussle within APGA, affirming Barrister Ezeokenwa as the legitimate leader of the party.

The Commission, during its meeting, deliberated on the matter and announced full compliance with the judgment and as part of this compliance, Barrister Ezeokenwa’s name has been restored on INEC’s official website as the recognised Chairman of APGA.

A statement, signed by the National Commissioner and Chairman of INEC’s Information and Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun, underscores INEC’s commitment to upholding the decisions of the judiciary in matters of political party leadership.

This development brings an end to the leadership crisis within APGA, paving the way for a unified front as the party prepares for upcoming Anambra governorship election and other political activities in the country.
