The Inspector-General of Police, Mr Kayode Egbetokun, has reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s expertise in combating cybercrime, following the arrest and arraignment of 113 foreign nationals involved in sophisticated cybercrime operations.

The suspects, apprehended on November 3, 2024, in Jahi, Abuja, were linked to internet fraud, data breaches, and marketing scams.

Investigations by the National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC) unearthed critical evidence, including high-capacity servers, drones, international SIM cards, laptops, routers, and identity documents, all used in their illegal activities.

The suspects charged with offenses such as computer-related fraud, unlawful data access, and money laundering, appeared before the Federal High Court in Abuja.

Mr Egbetokun reiterated the Force’s commitment to leveraging advanced technology and collaborating with international law enforcement to protect Nigeria’s cyberspace and bring cybercriminals to justice.

The operation underscores the growing transnational threat of cybercrime.
