The Nigerian Armed Forces have made significant strides in their ongoing operations nationwide, with notable achievements in the fight against terrorism, oil theft, and other security threats.
The Director Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba while insight into the ongoing operations, said, the intense military offensives and collaborative non-kinetic efforts led to the surrender of several terrorist leaders and fighters in the North Central.
He said notable figures including Yellow Jambros, Alhaji Mallam, and Babangida among other insurgents have expressed interest in surrendering.
According to the Director, troops neutralised 135 terrorists and arrested 185 individuals during the week as well as apprehended 61 oil thieves while 129 kidnapped victims were rescued.
Buba also disclosed that the military recovered 113 weapons, including AK-47s, grenades, and RPGs, alongside 2,415 rounds of ammunition and other items and prevented oil theft in the South-South, to the tune of ₦889 million and destroyed illegal refining sites, boats, storage tanks, and crude oil ovens.
He noted that troops recovered over 900,000 liters of stolen crude oil and various fuels.
Buba assured Nigerians of the military’s dedication to ensuring peace and stability across the nation saying that they will remain committed to maintaining operational momentum and finding innovative solutions to Nigeria’s security challenges.
