The 25th Biennial Diocesan Women’s General Conference of the Anglican Communion, Owerri Diocese, concluded on a high note, with the Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee, Sir Engr. John Oluebube Awujo, dedicating the event’s success to God.
The conference, held at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Obakuru Mbieri, in Mbaitolu Local Government Area of Imo State, was a significant milestone.
Speaking with journalists, Sir Awujo expressed his gratitude to God for enabling the successful planning and execution of the event. He highlighted his unwavering commitment to ensuring the conference’s success, describing his efforts as part of his service to God and humanity.
Renowned for his philanthropic contributions, Sir Awujo has been a steadfast supporter of the church. His notable contributions include constructing an extension to the church altar and an administrative office complex, both of which were dedicated during the conference by the Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Owerri, Rt. Revd. Chukwuma Chinekezi Oparah, Ph.D., JP.
As a Knight of St. Christopher and an accomplished engineer, Sir Awujo emphasized that his support for the church is a way of expressing gratitude for God’s blessings. He urged Christians to embrace Christ and show love to others, especially the less privileged, in line with Christ’s greatest commandment.
In addition to his other contributions, Sir Awujo, who is a lay reader and music director with a deep love for the things of God, also built a chapel in his hometown in thanksgiving to God and in memory of his late parents. The chapel was similarly dedicated by the Anglican Bishop of Owerri Diocese.
Encouraging Christian faithful to remain dedicated to God’s work, Sir Awujo called on believers to prioritize service to humanity as an expression of their faith.
