Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology (NITT) Sets New Vision for Nigeria’s Transport Sector

Key industry stakeholders gathered in Kaduna recently to address the evolving landscape of Nigeria’s transportation sector at a retreat organised by the Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology (NITT), with the theme “Realigning NITT’s Vision with Performance Management System (PMS) and the Dynamics of the Transport Industry.”
The retreat emphasised the institute’s commitment to innovation and efficiency in transport education and research.
In his keynote address, the Minister of Transportation, Senator Ahmed Alkali, praised NITT’s efforts, stating, “The transport sector is a critical enabler of our economy. It connects people, facilitates trade, and drives national development.”
He highlighted the importance of a robust PMS to measure progress and ensure that NITT aligns its goals with national transportation policies.
The Director General of NITT, Dr. Bayero Farah, on his part, outlined the achievements since the last retreat, including expanding services across the six geopolitical zones and advancing alternative fuel initiatives.
Dr. Farah also unveiled a new e-booking system for vehicle conversions to compressed natural gas (CNG).
Participants at the end of the retreat, renewed their commitment to making NITT a leading name in transport innovation, training, and research, so as to position the institute to revolutionise Nigeria’s transport systems.
