The Coalition of Orlu Zone Practising Journalists (COZPJ), a pressure group under the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Imo State Wing, has recognized Hon. Canice Moore Chukwudozie Nwachukwu, “Omeogo” member representing Orlu/Orsu/Oru-East in the National Assembly, for its prestigious Legislator Per Excellence award.
The honor recognizes Hon. Nwachukwu’s exemplary contributions to legislative functions, youth empowerment programs, and impactful development projects that have uplifted the people of Orlu zone. COZPJ made the announcement at a recent congress held last month.
COZPJ, established just seven months ago, is a burgeoning organization dedicated to promoting the progress of Orlu zone through effective journalism. With over a hundred members scattered across affiliate branches nationwide, the group is committed to writing Orlu to greatness by giving adequate media coverage to the endeavors of illustrious sons and daughters.
The organization lauded Omeogo’s remarkable achievements, particularly his recent appointment to the ECOWAS Parliament, further highlighting his growing influence beyond Nigeria’s borders.
In a statement from COZPJ President, Oloko Reginald Chukwuemeka, delivered during the award presentation, the group expressed deep admiration for Hon. Nwachukwu’s sagacity in lawmaking and his commitment to human and capital development. The coalition also celebrated his life-changing projects that have made a significant difference in the lives of his constituents. The award, according to COZPJ, is a token of encouragement to spur him on in his relentless service to the people.
However, as a newly founded organization, COZPJ is still grappling with early challenges. The coalition is working to establish its own Orlu zone-oriented newspaper, Orluzuoo, which aims to become a key player in the local media space. To actualize this vision, the group has appealed for assistance in procuring essential equipment such as laptops, desktop computers, digital cameras, and scanners, while also seeking support to renew their administrative office rent.
In his response, the Okporo Orlu born political leader and federal lawmaker expressed immense surprise and deep appreciation to COZPJ for the honour and recognition done on him by the noble organization from his primary constituency. According to him “I really appreciate this award that is coming from a group known as “the watchdog of the society” above all from my primary constituency as charity they say begins at home”
Hon Nwachukwu went further to promise and assure the Orlu Zone pen-pushers of his continuous partnership and collaboration to write Orlu zone to a greater height if they remain professional ethical, focused, pragmatic and unbiased for the collective interest of Orlu zone and Imo State in general.
