The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has provided a summary of the submissions made by political parties as the portal for uploading polling and collation agents for the 2024 Ondo State Governorship election officially closes.

The portal, which opened on August 20th, 2024, closed automatically at midnight on September 30th, 2024, as scheduled in the Timetable and Schedule of Activities released in September 2023.

Ondo State has 3,933 polling units and 222 collation centres, which include 203 ward centres, 18 Local Government centres, and the State collation centre in Akure.

Each political party fielding a candidate in the election was expected to nominate 4,155 agents across these polling and collation points.

With 18 political parties participating, the Commission anticipated a total submission of 74,790 agents but the total number of agents uploaded to the portal was significantly lower than expected, with only 24,148 submissions.

A statement by the Commission says the figure includes 22,689 polling agents, 1,249 ward agents, 196 Local Government agents, and just 14 State collation agents saying that in total, the 18 parties only submitted 32.3% of the expected agents.

It revealed that three political parties failed to submit any agents at either the polling or collation levels.
