In commemoration of Nigeria’s 64th Independence Anniversary, the Inspector General of Police, Mr Kayode Egbetokun, has mandated robust security measures nationwide to ensure a safe and joyous celebration for all Nigerians.

In his directive, Mr Egbetokun, called for the deployment of human and tactical resources across the country.

This strategy, he says, is aimed at creating a secure environment where citizens can celebrate freely, while preventing any threats to life, property, or the festivities themselves.

Working in close collaboration with other security agencies, the police, he said, will strengthen security at key event venues and along major highways, leaving no room for criminal activity.

The Police IG also instructed officers involved in these operations to be both firm and respectful in their interactions with the public, ensuring smooth and peaceful celebrations.

In his message to the nation, Mr Egbetokun extended warm congratulations to all Nigerians on this significant milestone.

He encouraged the citizenry to reflect on Nigeria’s journey, its victories, challenges, and the sacrifices made by generations of patriots.

The IGP further emphasised the importance of remembering the founding fathers of the country whose vision and determination laid the groundwork for the unity, growth, and progress the country enjoys today.

While reaffirming the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force, Mr Egbetokun, assured the public that the force remains steadfast in its mission to protect lives, uphold the rule of law, and promote peace and unity.

He called on all Nigerians to reignite their sense of national pride, work towards fostering unity, and contribute to building a prosperous future for all.

“As we mark our journey to freedom and self-governance, let us remember our collective responsibility to maintain peace, respect the law, and strive towards a brighter and more unified Nigeria,” he concluded.
