It was jubilation galore in Isiala Mbano LGA last Saturday, September 14, at Ugiri/Umuebie as popular and leading candidate, Chief Collins Osuagwu, Phd, formerly declared his ambition to be the next elected Executive Chairman of the council area, with a promise to rescue his people from several years of poor service delivery which is evident in dilapidated infrastructure, poor quality education, insecurity, unprecedented youth unemployment, drugs ravaging young people, etc.
The event which was well attended by several personalities in Isiala Mbano LGA, ranging from the political class to the traditional rulers, youth leaders, the business class, as well as the state, LGA and ward leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
In his address, the ADC chairmanship candidate informed that his decision to seek to be the Executive Chairman of Isiala Mbano LGA was as a result of the untold hardship of his people due to the bad goverrnance of past administrations in the council area.
He promised that the focus of his administration – if elected – would be the people and improving their standard of living in all areas.
Chief Osuagwu noted that his findings from all the wards of the LGA had assured him that his people are desperately in need of a paradigm shift in public service, hence his decision to put everything aside and offer himself to serve them as Executive Chairman of the local government.
The youthful, well educated and exposed candidate called for the support and collaboration of all well meaning people of Isiala Mbano LGA to put all hands on deck and ensure the victory of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in all the wards of the LGA.
Earlier during his opening prayer, Prof. B.J.C. Anyanwu assured the people that Dr. Osuagwu would deliver as he had promised because he had the necessary capacity to lead the people of Isiala Mbano to a more glorious future.
Prof. Anyanwu maintained that the ADC candidate was a true son of the soil, hence his decision to commence his campaign from his home town of Ugiri.
Anyanwu added that through Dr. Osuagwu’s foundation many indigent children now have the opportunity to go to school.
He also described the ADC candidate as an enterprising achiever whose exploits in various areas of life had earned him many awards nationally and internationally.
Contributing, the State secretary of the African Democratic Congress ( ADC), Hon. Charles Okoro who represented the state chairman informed that 5 aspirants had come for their party’s chairmanship ticket. However, after careful screening Dr. Collins Osuagwu was chosen.
Okoro noted that ADC was the only party among all with a clear manifesto and rule against having godfathers, asserting that support for Dr. Osuagwu meant support for good governance, quality roads, quality education, progress, etc.
The State Woman leader, Lolo Amaka Chieke said that before Dr. Osuagwu emerged as ADC chairmanship candidate, she had carefully enquired about him and learnt that he was a good person with the welfare of his people at heart.
The ADC LGA chairman for Isiala Mbano LGA, Hon. Emmanuel Onwueme also described the event as an official presentation of Dr. Collins Osuagwu to the people of Isiala Mbano LGA as their candidate for the Executive Chairmanship position in the forthcoming Council elections in the state.
Speaking to newsmen after the event, the Director General of the Collins Osuagwu Campaign Organization, Hon. Chimezie Lemchi expressed his delight at the success of the event, saying he had no doubt that Dr. Osuagwu would win the Chairmanship election given his popularity, quality and track record of results delivery.
The youths of the LGA present and other groups also assured Dr. Osuagwu of their support, while all the Councilorship candidates and their ward leaders pledged to deliver their wards for the African Democratic Congress ( ADC).
