ECOWAS Parliament To Advance Health Education Across Member States Through Technology

The ECOWAS Parliament has reaffirmed its commitment to advocating for initiatives that would enhance the well-being of citizens across West Africa, with a particular focus on health education.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of a Delocalised Meeting by the joint committees on Health, Education, Science and Culture, Telecommunications and Information Technology, and Industry and Private Sector convened under the theme, “Promoting Health Services and Education in the West African Region: The Role of the ECOWAS Parliament, held in Conakry, Guinea, the Second Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, Hon. Adjaratou Coulibaly, emphasised the importance of these efforts.
Hon. Coulibaly highlighted the crucial discussions that took place during the meeting, where parliamentarians resolved to leverage information and communication technology (ICT) to enhance education and health services, ensuring that even the most remote communities are reached.
She noted that the role of technology and telecommunications is pivotal to achieving these goals, but stressed the need for member states to address infrastructural challenges that impede the effective dissemination of information across the region.
Hon. Coulibaly urged parliamentarians to convey the resolutions of the meeting to their respective Heads of State and Government saying that their commitment and political will are essential to transforming the lives of the people in the sub-region.
She also expressed deep appreciation to the co-chairs of the joint committees for their leadership and to the members for their dedication to crafting resolutions that aim to improve the quality of life for citizens.
Hon. Coulibaly extended her gratitude to the government and people of Guinea, recognising their warm hospitality and the collaborative spirit that marked the event.
The second Deputy Speaker, underscored the ongoing challenges of peace and stability in the region, noting that many countries continue to grapple with internal conflicts and rebel activities, which pose significant barriers to development.
