NAWOJ FCT Begins Tutorials On Breastfeeding Ahead Of Its Programme

The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, FCT Chapter, convened its Congress on August 24, 2024, where pressing issues of concern to members were were discussed extensively.
Before the congress regularly sponsored by African Health Budget Network, AHBN, a guest speaker from the Ministry of Health, the BFI Desk Officer, Mrs Bayode Adenike, tutored the women journalists on the efficacy, rationale and best practices for exclusive breastfeeding
There was mixed reactions to government decision to lay Off 25,600 workers owing to foreign education as Nawojians for or against had cogent reasons for choosing their side.
The Congress also made a strong call for the development of a comprehensive contact database of all NAWOJ members within the FCT as this would allow easy communication with members who have been absent from meetings and serve as a reminder for upcoming Congresses.
It also urged Chapels to actively mobilise their members to participate in meetings, not just during election periods.
The Congress applauded the nomination of Gloria Josiah as an ex-officio member of the NAWOJ FCT Chapter Executive Council, considering it a positive step towards strengthening the leadership and fostering inclusivity within the association.
Earlier in her opening remarks, the Chairperson,NAWOJ FCT, Comrade Bassey Ita Ikpang, had said the essence of the teaching on breastfeeding ahead of the Association’s breastfeeding programme in Wumba Village next week, is to prepare members to take up the one on one tutorial during the programme.
