Imo Police Arrest 10 Male, Female Suspects For Criminal Offenses

The Imo State Police Command has arrested 10 male and a female suspects who specialize in possession of hard drug substance, armed robbery, unlawful possession of fire arms, cultism activities and other related offences in the state.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Henry Okoye, disclosed this to newsmen in Owerri, on Friday 28th, June, 2024, during the parade of the suspects in different crime-related matters.

According to him, we have inundated with series of armed robbery and kidnapping particularly along Ama wire in Orji, Ware house roundabout and Onitsha express road.

The Police said: ” That prompted the Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma to direct the command’s tactical squad to always go out and embark on intelligent led patrol.”

“Today, I am proud to tell you that this strategy by the Commissioner of Police has yielded significant results which led to the arrest of the following suspects”.

“Prominent among these cases involve the arrest of a husband and his wife who specialize in selling all kind of illicit drug substance.”

“Recovered from them include 7 bags of weeds suspected to be cannabis sativa, that is Indian hemp.”
“The command operatives in charge of anti Narcotics embarked on Intelligence led patrol and raided the criminal hideout and recovered weed substance.”

The suspects who identified themselves as Mr & Mrs Ngozi Joseph from Arondizuogu in Ideato North Local government Area of Imo State told newsmen that he was a transporter but used his Sienna car to transport the hard drugs.

He said: “My younger brother bought the Sienna car which I use for transportation since 201 but when I lost my father, I then started the business in 2019”.

“Three days ago, a man whom i know from Ondo State called me to come and carry them, though I didn’t give him money but he said whenever I sell them I should bring him the money before i was arrest.
“I feel regret about my involvement in this illicit act and I didn’t know that it would be like this today.”

He informed the press that a bag of the Narcotics cost one hundred thousand naira (N100,000) only.

Another suspect, Ogochukwu Favour (28) also narrated how he bought his locally made pistol at Ama-Hausa along Douglas road, Owerri and used it to terrorize the unsuspecting public around Ware house roundabout and environs.
The suspect confessed that he bought the pistol at the cost of N35,000.00 to operate in the night and rob the public off their belongings.
