Ondo Guber Election: INEC Notifies Security Agents Of Flashpoints, Threats In 18 LGAs

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, says it has identified all the flashpoints ahead of the Ondo state governorship election this November, including the types of threats across all the 18 local government areas.
The Chairman of INEC, Professor Mahmood Yakubu who disclosed this after a meeting of the Inter Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security, ICCES, said information about the flashpoints and types of threats on the forthcoming election has been shared with security agencies.
He noted that the meeting became necessary to review preparations for the forthcoming governorship election and appealed to political leaders in Ondo state as well as the population to continue to keep the peace, expressing delight that the commission had heard no major adverse report, so far, as it prepares for the election.
The INEC boss is confident that the peaceful atmosphere surrounding the forthcoming election would remain the same into the elections and beyond.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Abayomi Oladipo, assured that security agencies were fully prepared for the election especially as the Inspector General of Police, Mr Kayode Egbetokun,has mandated the deployment of personnel for the election that is coming up in November.
He further assured that with the synergy and support of security agencies they are good to go.
Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has appeoved the extension of the Continuous Voter Registration, CVR, in Edo and Ondo States by four days.
A statement signed by the National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun, says the approval was given in response to appeals by stakeholders to enable eligible persons register.
