Nigeria’s Defence Headquarters, say it neutralised 2,351 terrorists, arrested 2,308 persons and rescued 1,241 kidnapped hostages from January to March, 2024 through synchronised strikes between the ground and air forces on terrorist enclaves.

The Director Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba, who disclosed this at a press briefing to review ongoing operations of the military for the first quarter of year 2024, said these were made possible through collecting intelligence, hunting and striking them not minding where they maybe hiding or hibernating.

He said also within the period under review, troops recovered 2,847 weapons, 58,492 ammunitions and denied oil thieves an estimated sum of over twenty billion naira which according to him, demonstrates that ongoing operations are effective and result oriented hence, the military is raising the bar in the prosecution of the war against terrorism and insecurity.

Major General Buba added that the armed forces is fighting a vicious enemy in the ongoing operations across the country but that, the military is not relenting as it is ready, prepared, equipped and focused on what to do with the terrorists and their cohorts and assured citizens that they will continue to witness the incremental effectiveness and efficiency of the armed forces.

He noted that immediately upon acquisition of vital targets, fighter jets were scrambled to carry out major bombarding raids on significant terrorist enclaves which yielded positive significant results.
