Nigeria To Fast Track Renewing MoU With Bulgaria In Education

The ​Minister of Education, Professor Tahir Mamman has promised that the process of renewing the Memorandum of Understanding between Nigeria and Bulgaria will be fast-tracked.

The Minister who made the promise when he received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotenary of the Republic of Bulgaria to Nigeria, Yanko Yordanov in audience in his office in Abuja, expressed Nigeria’s readiness to deepen bilateral ties with the Federal Republic of Bulgaria, in the field of Education.

Professor Mamman, noted that University Education is a global phenomenon and Nigeria stands ready to collaborate on research, and engage in exchange programmes, with countries around the world.

He assured his visitors of Nigeria’s willingness to forge partnerships that would be mutually beneficial.

The Minister of State for Education, Dr. Yusuf Sununu, on his part, said that Nigerian Universities are already cooperating with their counterparts across the globe in various fields of human endeavours.

He noted that Bulgaria, more than ever before, are welcome to expand the existing collaboration, especially in the fields of agriculture and medicine.

Earlier, Ambassador Yordanov had told the Ministers that scholarship opportunities exist for Nigerian students at Graduate and Post Graduate levels in some Universities in Bulgaria.

He explained that the scholarships would be obtainable at the start of the academic session commencing September this year.

A statement by the Director, Press and Public Relations of the Ministry, Bem Bem Goong, stressed that in order to sustain the partnership, Nigeria and Bulgaria are expected to renew the Memorandum of Understanding between them.
