The Embassy of the State of Palestine in Nigeria says the death toll of Palestinians in the ongoing crisis between Hamas and Israel has risen to about 500 people, with about two thirds of them being women and children.

The Ambassador of the Embassy of the State of Palestine to Nigeria, Abdullah Shawesh, who disclosed this to journalists in Abuja, said, in addition, several hundreds were wounded especially after the attack on the Baptist Hospital in Gaza in which dozens of displaced families had taken shelter.

Shawesh, accused the West, led by the United States of America, of indirectly supporting Israel in spite of its belief and advocacy for international law and human rights law, and which did not stop providing unconditional and unequivocal support to the Israeli occupation.

According to the Ambassador, the West did not condemn the Israeli attack on the Baptist Hospital in Gaza, and also prevented the Security Council, from adopting a resolution for a ceasefire in Gaza last Monday, adding that many Western media outlets are also waging war against the Palestinian people by broadcasting and distributing dozens of false and fake news, with the aim of portraying the Palestinians as murderers, thugs and inferior subhuman beings in a re-engineering of the global consciousness towards full acceptance of the Israeli genocide and war crimes against the Palestinian people currently underway.

He described, all talks of Western leaders about protecting Palestinian civilians as an empty talk, lip services, and no more than throwing ash in the eyes saying they are double standards, hypocrisy, as the full support and sponsorship of many Western countries, encourages Israel to implement its old plans of expelling the Palestinian people from Gaza to Egyptian Sinai Peninsula.

Ambassador Shawesh, called for respect of International law especially the international humanitarian law and human rights law and there should be no exception or impunity for Israel, as no country should be above the law.

He advocated that now is the time for the international community to stand firm and united in support of international laws and called on everyone around the world to raise their voices loudly at this historical juncture.
