Military Seeks Public Support, Information As They Sustain Onslaught Against Violent Crimes Nationwide

The Director, Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba has asked the citizenry to assist the military in its efforts to make improvements towards ensuring their safety and restoring security across the country by promptly reporting suspicious actions so the military will do something about it.
Major General Buba, said the mission of the military against terrorist and other violent extremist groups in the country remains unchanged as the armed forces will continue with its aggressive operations to force such groups to submission.
While giving an update on the ongoing operations across the six geopolitical zones of the country, in the past one week, Major General Buba said troops of Operation HADIN KAI in the North East were engaged in ambushes, raids, rescue operations, fighting patrols, attacks as well as cordon and search activities which resulted in neutralizing terrorists, rescued hostages, surrender of terrorist combatants and recovery of arms and ammunition.
According to him, the operational activities of troops of Joint Task Force of Operation HADARIN DAJI in the North Central ranged from rescue of kidnap victims within Tsafe LGA of Zamfara to artillery missions on terrorists in the forest as well as the arrest of terrorist collaborators and the conduct of offensive activities to disrupt terrorist freedom of action.
He noted that the operational activities of troops of Operation SAFE HAVEN during the period ranged from conduct of raids and arrest of terrorists at Afana village in Zangon Kataf LGA of Kaduna State adding that troops also arrested cattle rustlers in Dogo Nahawa Bush Jos South, Bokkos and Mangu LGAs of Plateau State.
He said troops fecovered weapons at Kulben village in Mangu LGA of Plateau State.
Major General Buba stated that during the period under review, troops of Operation WIRL STROKE conducted 22 operations; 13 fighting patrols, six confence building patrols and one raid operation in Mbaayande, Mbamazu and Mbaagudu villages of Konshiga LGA of Benue State while fighting patrol was conducted in Logo LGA and some arrests were made around Okpokwu LGA of Benue State.
He disclosed that troops of Joint Task Force Operations UDO KA and Operation SEARCH AND FLUSH in the South East region sustained momentum in the fight against insecurity the region and responded to distress calls, to foil kidnappers’ activities in several areas in the region which led to the recovery of one improvised 16 MBRL gun mounted on a vehicle with other arms and ammunition.
The DMO, however, regretted that a joint patrol team of operation SEARCH AND FLUSH suffered a setback when responding to a distress call in Ehime Mbano LGA of Imo State where they were ambushed.
