The Department of State Security, DSS, has asked political parties and their media managers to apply caution in their utterances and public communication engagements before, during and after the general elections.
A statement signed by the spokesperson of the service, Dr. Peter Afunanya, said the caution is to avoid heating up the polity and evoking tendencies that could lead to violent reactions as well as undermine the peace and order of the nation.
The statement also announced that it had extended an invitation to APC Chieftain, Chief Femi Fani Kayode, to its National Headquarters, Abuja based on issues bordering on national security.
According to the statement, the invitation was necessitated by investigations into some of his allegations and insinuations relating to issues relating to National security.
It further noted that Chief Fani Kayode, faced a panel which interviewed him on the subject matter, and the service granted him an administrative bail thereafter directing that he makes routine returns to the office with effect from Wednesday 15th February, 2023 till otherwise saying that the investigation continues.
