Over eighty members of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, NIPR, were recently inducted as fellows which is the highest ranking cadre of the institute.
Out of this number, six of them are from the Anambra chapter of NIPR.
They were inducted at a colourful ceremony during the Citizens Summit for National Integration, Peace and Security in Abuja.
Performing the ceremony, the President and Chairman of Council, NIPR, Mallam Mukhtar Sirajo, reminded them that attaining the highest rank in the institute means more work for them.
He urged them to utilise the office to fulfill the mandate of NIPR, which among other things are to foster understanding, promote mutual trust and respect, build goodwill, create friendship and strengthen relationship among different stakeholders.
Earlier, the National Planning Committee Chairman of the citizens summit, Dr. Ike Neliaku, had urged them to practice what they learnt at the summit and promote peace and unity wherever they find themselves.
For one of the new inductees, the immediate past commissioner for education in Anambra State, Professor Kate Omenugha, her role in the state during the COVID-19 pandemic gave her the leverage for the honour.
While commending the state government for its success story so far, She prayed that the Anambra state chapter of NIPR would work with the state government to foster better understanding of government’s programmes and policies so as to prevent crisis at all costs.
Speaking on behalf of other newly inducted fellows, Reverend Father Boniface Obiefuna, promised that the new rank will spur them to put in their best in the pursuit of peace and better relationships in their different localities.
NIPR had also at the citizens summit, inaugurated a 24 man report writing committee charged with doing a report on the citizens summit from inception to the actualisation and outcome.
