Various religious groups in the South East converged on Aguleri, Anambra East Local Government Area of Anambra State from Wednesday 13th to Saturday 16th October, 2021; praying for peaceful coexistence, divine protection, security of lives and property of Ndiigbo and their neighbours as well as prayers for a credible, peaceful and transparent Anambra gubernatorial election.
The 4-day Ecumenical Prayer Summit with its theme taken from 2nd Chronicles 7-14 “if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and seek my face and turn from their evil ways then, will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land, liberate and restore their lost glory,” was convened by Reverend Elias Ike Ekwemour of the World Ecumenical Christian International Centre, Aguleri, Anambra State.
The prayer summit which was the first ever Igbo summit was adjudged a huge success as there was relative peace in Igboland, Anambra Governorship election was credible, free, peaceful, transparent and a reflection of the desires of the people as it produced Professor Charles Soludo as the governor elect.
Unfortunately, the euphoria of this victory was not long lasting as the devil struck and the convener of the prayer summit, Reverend Elias, met with an accident that has left him bedridden for many months and in dire need of financial assistance to offset his hospital bills.
Speaking to savinews.ng, Reverend Ekwemour, said he is happy to have contributed to the peace in the region and a successful Governorship election in Anambra State and will gladly do it over and over again irrespective of his present condition.
According to him, the devil is not unaware about the victory over his kingdom and as such not pleased which is why he (devil) is showcasing his supremacy over mortals.
