After Six Days In Captivity, 20 Prospective Corps Members Rescued In Imo

Twenty young Nigerians preparing to begin their NYSC service have been reunited with safety after spending six days in the hands of their abductors in Imo State.

The prospective corps members were rescued at about 4:28 p.m. on Wednesday at Amakohia Ubi Village following a sustained joint operation by the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies.

The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, confirmed the rescue, saying the operation followed coordinated search-and-rescue efforts after the victims were abducted on October 1.

For the 20 prospective corps members, the rescue marked an end to days of uncertainty as security operatives worked to locate them.

CSP Iniedu said the victims have been taken for medical examination and necessary treatment as part of the post-rescue process.

But the operation is not over as police and sister security agencies are now focused on tracking down those responsible for the abduction, with efforts intensified to apprehend the suspects and bring them to justice.

The Police commended members of the public for their cooperation and support, stressing its commitment to protecting lives and responding swiftly to threats to public safety.

The 20 are safe but the hunt for their abductors continues.
