APC Attacks Amaechi Over Comments On Mother’s Medical Treatment
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticised former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi over his reported comments about being unable to afford medication for his late mother, Dame Ezinne Mary Oduah Amaechi.
In a statement issued on Sunday by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the APC said Amaechi’s comments raised questions about his financial circumstances after leaving public office.
The party noted that Amaechi had served as Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, governor of the state and Minister of Transportation, and is currently the African Democratic Congress (ADC) vice-presidential candidate for the 2027 election.
The APC also referenced an earlier comment attributed to Amaechi about relying on his wife for support, arguing that his recent statements were at odds with his long years in public office.
It further criticised his bid for the vice-presidency, saying public office should not be viewed as a means of personal financial support.
The statement concluded by questioning Amaechi’s suitability for the vice-presidential ticket, while the claims and characterisations remained the APC’s political position.
