Police Foil Kidnap Attempt, Recover 159 Detonators, Rescue Five Victims Nationwide

The recovery of 159 electric detonators suspected to be components of improvised explosive devices and the rescue of four kidnap victims are among the latest operational successes recorded by the Nigeria Police Force across seven states.

According to the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, police operatives intercepted a Toyota bus during a stop-and-search operation along the Daura, Kongolam, Maiadua Road in Katsina State on 30 September, leading to the arrest of a suspect and recovery of the detonators.

In a separate operation in the state, police tactical teams foiled an attempted kidnapping along the Funtua-Zaria Highway, forcing suspected bandits to flee into the bush.

Four victims were rescued unharmed from a white truck.

In Adamawa, combined security teams repelled a terrorist attack on Dabna Village on 1 October without casualties among police personnel.

Troops also repelled an attack on 226 Battalion, Garkida, recovering the body of one suspected terrorist.

Meanwhile, police operatives in Anambra rescued a victim allegedly overpowered by suspected cult gang members along Ifite Road and recovered the tricycle used by the suspects.

Other operations resulted in the arrest of a suspected armed bandit and recovery of a stolen goat in Sokoto, recovery of a locally made firearm concealed in a banana plantation in Ogun, and the arrest of four suspected illegal miners at Timan Mountain in Taraba State.

The Force said investigations into the various cases are ongoing through the respective State Criminal Investigation Departments.
