The success of Nigeria’s grassroots sports agenda will depend not only on developing talent but also on effectively telling the stories and opportunities around it.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Grassroots Sports Development, Hon. Adeyinka Anthony Adeboye, has appointed veteran sports journalist and former Nigeria National League (NNL) Chairman, Chief George Aluo, as Media Consultant to his office.

The appointment is aimed at strengthening strategic communication, media relations and stakeholder engagement around the Federal Government’s grassroots sports development agenda.

Aluo, who has more than three decades of experience in sports journalism, media management and football administration, is expected to deploy his expertise and extensive media network to amplify the office’s programmes and initiatives.

Adeboye said Aluo’s experience across journalism, football administration and sports development would be valuable as the office works to build sustainable pathways from grassroots participation to elite sports.

He said effective communication was critical to securing the involvement of government, schools, communities, sports federations, clubs, academies, coaches, parents, the private sector and the media.

Aluo thanked Adeboye for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to contribute his experience to advancing the office’s mandate and promoting grassroots sports across Nigeria.

The appointment takes immediate effect.
