Police Rescue Four Kidnap Victims, Arrest 23 Suspects In Nationwide Operations
The Nigeria Police Force says sustained operations across several states have resulted in the rescue of four kidnapped victims, the arrest of 23 suspects and the disruption of criminal activities between 10 and 12 September 2026.
In Benue State, police operatives repelled a large-scale bandit attack on Ayilamo Community, forcing the attackers to retreat into the forest with heavy casualties, according to the Force.
Kaduna recorded two separate rescue operations.
Three victims, a man and his two sons, were rescued unharmed after police engaged their abductors in a gun duel. In another operation, officers rescued a 60-year-old woman who had been kidnapped and took her to hospital before reuniting her with her family.
Elsewhere, police arrested suspected members of criminal gangs in Anambra and the FCT, including three alleged armed robbers accused of snatching handbags and mobile phones from commuters along the Kubwa Expressway.
In Akwa Ibom, three suspected illicit drug dealers were arrested during a raid on a criminal hideout, with large quantities of substances suspected to be Indian hemp and other illicit drugs recovered.
Police also reported five arrests in Kano over an abortion-related death, 10 arrests following a violent protest in Tambuwal, Sokoto State, and another arrest in the FCT over an alleged attempt to steal a Mercedes-Benz C300.
In Enugu, a suspect was arrested over an alleged defilement offence.
The Force said the various cases remain under investigation by the respective State Criminal Investigation Departments and the FCT Criminal Investigation Department.
