CAF Opens Tender For 2027 AFCON Sub-Saharan Media Rights
With the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations expected to draw huge audiences across the continent, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has opened bidding for media rights to the tournament in Sub-Saharan Africa.
CAF said the Invitation to Tender covers Free-to-Air (FTA) and Pay-TV rights for the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda 2027.
The rights package will cover broadcasts in English, Swahili, Portuguese, isiZulu, Wolof, Yoruba and other local languages. French-language Pay-TV rights are excluded from the package.
Interested broadcasters and media organisations have until 14 September 2026 at 17:00 Cairo time to submit their bids.
The tournament will take place across Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda from 19 June to 17 July 2027.
CAF said the scale of the opportunity was demonstrated by the 2025 AFCON in Morocco, which attracted more than 3.2 billion television audience views and six billion digital views.
The tender also covers media rights for several other CAF competitions, including the 2026 Africa Beach Soccer Cup of Nations, Futsal Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2026, Africa U-20 Cup of Nations Ghana 2027 and Africa U-17 Cup of Nations Morocco 2027.
