Police Arrest Terror, Kidnap Suspects, Rescue Victims In Nationwide Crackdown
Nigeria Police operatives have intensified nationwide security operations, recording multiple arrests, rescue missions and the recovery of firearms, ammunition and stolen property in a coordinated push against violent crime across several states.
The operations, carried out between 2 and 5 August, led to the arrest of suspected terrorists, kidnappers, armed robbers, defilement suspects and animal rustlers, while several kidnapped victims were rescued and hundreds of rustled livestock recovered.
In Imo State, police dismantled a suspected terrorist hideout in Njaba Local Government Area, arresting six suspects, including an alleged terrorist native doctor, while recovering criminal charms.
In Oyo, a suspected kidnap kingpin was apprehended and a kidnapped victim rescued unhurt during a joint security operation.
Other major breakthroughs included the arrest of five suspects at a criminal hideout in Akwa Ibom with a locally made pistol, cash, suspected cannabis and other exhibits recovered; the arrest of a suspect with 20 rounds of live AK-47 ammunition in Nasarawa; and the recovery of an SMG rifle and 75 rounds of ammunition in Ogun State.
Police also foiled bandit attacks in Katsina and Sokoto states, recovering 452 rustled animals in Sokoto, while 25 stolen sheep were recovered in Jigawa.
In Kogi, four abducted victims were rescued, while in Enugu, three suspects were arrested over the alleged defilement of a minor.
The Force also said sustained dialogue with stakeholders in Plateau State led to the suspension of a planned protest by the Take It Back Movement, with security agencies maintaining surveillance to preserve peace.
The Nigeria Police Force said investigations are ongoing in all the cases, with efforts continuing to apprehend fleeing suspects and dismantle criminal networks across the country.
