Nigeria Urges Immediate End To Houthi-Yemen Conflict, Calls For Dialogue

As fighting intensifies in parts of the Middle East, Nigeria has renewed its call for restraint, warning that prolonged violence will only deepen humanitarian suffering and threaten regional stability.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Federal Government condemned the ongoing hostilities and reported attacks involving the Houthi militia in Yemen and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It expressed concern over the growing humanitarian crisis and the risk of further escalation, urging all parties to end violence and prioritise peaceful negotiations.

Nigeria reaffirmed its commitment to peaceful conflict resolution through diplomacy, respect for international law and the principles of the United Nations Charter. It also expressed readiness to support genuine efforts aimed at restoring calm, promoting lasting peace and ensuring stability across the region.

The statement was signed by Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, Acting Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
