Adamawa Police Take Anti-Crime Campaign To School, Urge Students To Shun Drugs, Cultism
Preventing crime among young people begins with education, and the Adamawa State Police Command is intensifying efforts to reach students before they are drawn into criminal activities.
The Command, through the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV), has extended its sensitisation campaign to Capital Government Day Senior and Junior Secondary School, Jimeta, where students were urged to reject drug abuse, cultism, cybercrime and other social vices.
Led by the State POCACOV Coordinator, ASP Muhammed Lamido, with support from the Zonal Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) Safe School Project team, the interactive session focused on the dangers of drug abuse, Shilla gangsterism, examination malpractice and bullying.
Students were also educated on personal safety, conflict resolution, online safety and the legal consequences of engaging in criminal activities, while officers encouraged them to embrace discipline, make responsible decisions and become positive role models in their communities.
The Commissioner of Police, Kabiru Umar Hassan, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to preventive policing, stressing that sustained engagement with schools remains a key strategy for reducing crime and promoting a safer Adamawa State.
The school’s principals commended the initiative, describing it as timely and impactful, and pledged continued support for programmes that promote discipline, security awareness and moral values among students.
