Bangladesh’s remarkable economic transformation offers practical lessons that could help Nigeria unlock inclusive growth, create jobs and strengthen key sectors of its economy, media and business development practitioner Oru Leonard Oru has said.

Speaking at the 2026 July Martyrs’ Day commemoration hosted by the Bangladesh High Commission in Abuja, Oru urged the Federal Government to establish a Nigerian Embassy in Dhaka to deepen diplomatic, trade and investment ties between both countries.

Drawing from his frequent visits to Bangladesh, he praised the country’s achievements in infrastructure, agriculture, the blue economy, microfinance, manufacturing, healthcare and youth entrepreneurship, describing it as a development model Nigeria can adapt.

He also called for stronger collaboration in education, technology, pharmaceuticals, digital innovation and skills development, while noting that Bangladesh’s globally acclaimed microfinance system has empowered millions of entrepreneurs, particularly women.

Oru commended the Bangladesh High Commission for organising the remembrance event and expressed confidence that stronger Nigeria-Bangladesh relations would advance sustainable development and South-South cooperation.
