Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have thwarted another kidnapping operation in Nigeria’s North-West, rescuing six abducted civilians after suspected terrorists fled in the face of advancing soldiers in Sokoto State.
Six kidnapped victims have regained their freedom after troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, intercepted suspected terrorists transporting them through Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
The troops, who were on a counter-terrorism patrol, encountered three suspected terrorists travelling on motorbikes with the captives, believed to have been abducted from Kure village.
On sighting the soldiers, the suspects abandoned the victims and fled into the surrounding bush.
The rescued victims were identified as Usman (24), Baba Usman (56), Hassan (22), Sunusi (23), Abdullahi Yahaya (28), and Sule (15). Military authorities said they are receiving appropriate care and will soon be reunited with their families.
The successful operation is part of ongoing efforts by Operation FANSAN YAMMA to dismantle terrorist and kidnapping networks across the North-West through sustained intelligence-led patrols and rapid response operations.
The military also urged residents to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible intelligence.
