Crackdown On Gridlock: Ogun Police Clear Roads, Impound Vehicles In Major Traffic Sweep

In a decisive push to restore sanity on congested highways, the Ogun State Police Command has intensified enforcement operations targeting traffic obstructions across key corridors, yielding immediate results in some of the state’s busiest areas.

Acting under the directive of Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, the Command executed coordinated operations under “Operation No Traffic Gridlock” in Sango Ota and the Ijebu Ode Toll Gate axis.

The intervention focused on dismantling illegal structures, removing roadside traders, and tackling indiscriminate parking blamed for chronic congestion.

In Sango Ota, nighttime clearance operations led by the Area Commander saw the removal of shanties encroaching on road setbacks.

Early morning enforcement further cleared major obstruction points, with six vehicles impounded for traffic violations.

Authorities say the area has since recorded a noticeable improvement in traffic flow.

A similar operation in Ijebu Ode targeted heavy-duty trucks and roadside trading along the toll gate axis.

The police dismantled illegal parking clusters and cleared obstructions, significantly easing vehicular movement, while maintaining surveillance to ensure continued compliance.

The Commissioner warned that illegal parking and highway obstruction will no longer be tolerated, stressing that violators will face arrest and prosecution.

Residents have also been urged to support the initiative by reporting traffic-related issues through designated emergency lines.
