Ebienfa Wins Media Diplomat Of The Year At Bayelsa Media Awards
Former Foreign Affairs Ministry spokesperson Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa has been honoured for his role in strategic communication and media diplomacy.
Former spokesperson of Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, has won the Media Diplomat of the Year 2026 award at the 13th Bayelsa Media Awards in Yenagoa.
The award, presented during the special edition marking Bayelsa State’s 30th anniversary, recognises his use of strategic communication to advance diplomacy, project Bayelsa’s image and connect the media with government and the international community.
Organisers said Ebienfa was selected for his professionalism in handling sensitive communications and his contributions to representing Bayelsa and Ijaw interests in national discourse.
Reacting to the honour, Ebienfa described it as both an encouragement and a call to greater responsibility in media diplomacy.
He said his experience as Foreign Affairs Ministry spokesperson reinforced the importance of clear, credible and timely communication in explaining Nigeria’s foreign policy priorities and strengthening the country’s international image.
According to him, effective diplomacy goes beyond negotiations and official engagements to include public communication that builds trust, counters misinformation and promotes mutual understanding.
Ebienfa thanked the organisers, media practitioners, foreign service colleagues, mentors and associates who supported his professional journey.
He reaffirmed his commitment to professionalism, accuracy and constructive engagement in advancing Nigeria’s interests and strengthening its relations with the international community.
Ebienfa was represented at the ceremony by his foster son, Woyengiowoi Precious Michael.
