OPFY Troops Capture Terrorist Commanders Linked To Killing Of Army General In Katsina
Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA (OPFY), working with local vigilantes, have captured several senior commanders of the Kachalla Maha terrorist group allegedly linked to the kidnapping and killing of Major General Abubakar Rabe in Katsina State.
The operation, conducted on Sunday, 20 September 2026, reportedly led to the arrest of Samagi, identified as one of the group’s senior commanders, alongside other key members of its operational structure.
The arrests represent a potentially significant intelligence breakthrough for security forces battling terrorist and criminal networks across the North-West.
Military sources said the operation was supported by local vigilantes, whose knowledge of the difficult terrain and community-level intelligence helped troops track the suspects.
The captured commanders are expected to face further investigation to establish their roles in the Kachalla Maha network and determine possible links to previous kidnappings, killings and other attacks in Katsina and neighbouring states.
Security agencies are also expected to exploit the intelligence obtained from the suspects to identify other members of the network, hideouts, supply routes and possible collaborators.
Further details, including the number of suspects captured and items recovered during the operation, are expected from the military authorities.
