Timely intelligence and a swift military response have helped secure the release of 21 kidnapped civilians after troops clashed with terrorists in Kangiwa Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

The troops of Joint Task Force North-West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, launched a fighting patrol on September 14 following a distress call over the abduction of civilians from Fafala Village.

Acting on credible information, troops of Sector 2 moved towards Fafala and Dandikwa communities, where they made contact with the terrorists and engaged them in a heavy exchange of gunfire.

The sustained firepower forced the terrorists to retreat, allowing the troops to search the area and rescue all 21 victims.

The rescued civilians have since been reunited with their families.

The Joint Task Force commended residents for providing useful information and urged communities to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements promptly to security agencies.

The operation highlights the critical role of community intelligence in enabling troops to disrupt terrorist activities and rescue abducted civilians in the North-West.
