Police Foil Attacks, Arrest 25 Suspects Across Six States

A series of rapid police interventions across six states has disrupted armed attacks, robbery, suspected cult activity and other crimes, with firearms and ammunition among the items recovered.
In Benue, police repelled an attack on Jootar Police Station in Ukum LGA on Sunday, forcing the armed bandits to flee. No police casualty was recorded.
Police also foiled an alleged highway robbery at Ayati Village in Gwer East, recovering a locally fabricated revolver, four live cartridges and a mobile phone after suspects fled into the bush.
In Ekiti, a 40-year-old man was arrested over the alleged attempted rape and assault of a 96-year-old woman at Emure-Ekiti. The victim was taken to hospital for treatment.
Akwa Ibom recorded eight arrests during raids on suspected criminal hideouts, with suspected illicit drugs recovered.
Three suspected cultists were also arrested at Ikot Ubok Udom, where police recovered a single-barrel gun and a pump-action gun.
In Imo, 11 suspected militia members were arrested at a hideout in Odumara Orodo, Mbaitoli LGA. Police recovered a wooden, charm-fortified bullet-proof vest.
Meanwhile, Ogun Police arrested three suspects allegedly involved in stealing company cable wires from a quarry in Odeda. CCTV footage reportedly helped investigators identify the suspects.
The police said the various cases remain under investigation.
