Nigeria, Germany Renew Strategic Ties As Ambassador Enang Presents Credentials To President Steinmeier
Nigeria and Germany have reaffirmed their commitment to expanding cooperation in trade, energy, migration and regional security, signalling renewed momentum in the long-standing relationship between both countries.
The renewed commitment followed the presentation of Letters of Credence by Nigeria’s Ambassador to Germany, Ambassador Ita Solomon Enang, to German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier at the Presidential Palace in Berlin.
Following the ceremony, both leaders held bilateral talks focused on strengthening economic and trade ties, advancing energy cooperation through the Siemens Power Initiative and off-grid technologies, and promoting investment in key sectors, including automobile assembly, industrial development and gas-to-power projects.
They also discussed a proposed Nigeria-Germany Migration Agreement aimed at creating legal pathways for skilled Nigerian professionals in healthcare, technology, engineering and artificial intelligence to work in Germany.
Regional peace and security, Nigeria’s leadership role in ECOWAS, renewed engagement with Sahelian states, and humanitarian issues relating to the Bakassi Peninsula also featured during the discussions.
Ambassador Enang conveyed Nigeria’s appreciation for Germany’s humanitarian support recently announced during the visit of German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul to Nigeria.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the engagement reinforces the enduring partnership between both countries and opens new opportunities for deeper collaboration in trade, investment, sustainable development and regional stability.
