Katsina Power Boost Nears Reality As TCN Receives Two 100MVA Transformers
Efforts to strengthen electricity supply in Katsina State and across the North-West have received a major boost with the arrival of two new 100MVA power transformers for an ongoing transmission substation project.
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) said its Kano Region took delivery of the transformers on July 9 for installation at the 330/132/33kV Transmission Substation under construction in Katsina.
According to TCN, the transformers are critical to the completion of the project and will add 160MW to the region’s transmission capacity once installed, tested and commissioned.
The company said the completed substation will improve grid reliability and efficiency while increasing its capacity to evacuate bulk electricity to Distribution Companies serving Katsina and surrounding areas.
The Katsina project is part of TCN’s nationwide drive to expand and modernise Nigeria’s transmission infrastructure amid growing electricity demand.
