Nigerian Army Trains Pioneer Armoured Vehicle Crewmen To Strengthen North-West Operations
As terrorists and bandits continue to exploit difficult terrain and mobility gaps, the Nigerian Army is strengthening the battlefield capabilities of frontline troops with specialised armoured combat vehicle training.
The 8 Division Nigerian Army and Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have graduated a pioneer batch of 17 Armoured Combat Support Vehicle crewmen to boost operational readiness, troop mobility and effectiveness in ongoing counter-terrorism and anti-banditry operations in the North-West.
The graduation ceremony, held at the 8 Division Training School, followed intensive theoretical and practical training in military vehicle systems, driving techniques, vehicle inspection, combat recovery procedures and other operational skills.
Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 8 Division/Sector 2 Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, said the initiative was designed to integrate highly skilled drivers with advanced combat vehicles for improved battlefield performance.
Addressing the graduates, the General Officer Commanding 8 Division and Commander, Sector 2 Joint Task Force North-West, Major General Bemgba Paul Koughna, said specialised vehicle crewmen play a critical role in modern warfare by improving troop mobility and providing tactical advantages during combat operations.
He urged the graduates to effectively deploy their newly acquired skills in their respective units and announced a special monthly allowance to encourage professionalism and excellence.
The ceremony featured a practical driving demonstration by the graduates, showcasing their tactical awareness, precision and vehicle-handling skills.
