Lagos Police Arrest Suspected Armed Robber With Human Part, Firearms On Lekki-Epe Expressway

A routine stop-and-search operation on the Lekki-Epe Expressway has led to the arrest of a suspected armed robber allegedly found with a suspected human body part, firearms and items believed to have been stolen from victims.
Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a 21-year-old suspected armed robber after recovering a suspected human hand, locally made firearms and other suspected stolen items during a routine stop-and-search operation along the Lekki-Epe Expressway.
Police said the suspect, identified as Samson Onilewaji, was among six occupants of an unregistered commercial shuttle bus intercepted by officers.
A search allegedly uncovered a suspected human right hand, two locally made pistols, one live cartridge, two axes, a Point of Sale (POS) terminal and five ATM cards.
According to the Command, the suspect confessed to recently robbing three individuals of their belongings, including the recovered POS terminal and ATM cards. Efforts are ongoing to trace the victims and return their property.
Investigators are also working to establish the identity of the owner of the suspected human hand, the circumstances surrounding its possession and its intended use, while efforts continue to track down other suspected accomplices.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Olaiwola Fatai, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to tackling violent crime and urged residents to remain vigilant by providing timely and credible information to support policing efforts.
