Troops Rescue 22 Kidnap Victims, Repel Terrorist Attacks In Sokoto
Swift military intervention has once again prevented terrorists from consolidating their grip on vulnerable communities in Nigeria’s North-West, with troops rescuing 22 abducted victims in separate operations across Sokoto State.
Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, successfully foiled multiple terrorist attacks and rescued 22 kidnapped persons during coordinated operations in Sabon Birni and surrounding communities.
Military authorities said 17 passengers were rescued after terrorists ambushed two civilian vehicles along the Sabon Birni-Shinkafi Road at Kura Mota village and abducted several travellers.
Acting on credible intelligence, troops swiftly mobilised to the area, pursued the attackers and forced them to abandon their captives before fleeing.
In a separate operation, troops responded to a distress call from Chohi village, where terrorists had attacked farmers on their farmlands.
Following a rapid deployment and pursuit, soldiers rescued a family of five abducted during the attack and reunited them with their community.
The military said the successful operations underscore the resolve of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to protect lives and property, particularly farmers and commuters who remain frequent targets of terrorist and bandit attacks in the region.
Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining offensive operations against criminal elements and ensuring lasting security across the North-West.
