Jonathan To Lead Global Talks On Disinformation, Peace At Abuja Summit

As disinformation and information warfare increasingly threaten global stability and democracy, former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is set to headline a major international conference in Abuja focused on combating Foreign Information Manipulation and Interference (FIMI).

Jonathan will attend the Diplomatic, Security, Trade, and Investment International Conference on May 20 at the Rotunda Hall of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he will also receive the DICAN International Award for Statesmanship and Global Peace.

The conference, organised by the Diplomatic Correspondents Association of Nigeria in partnership with the Centre for Communications, Development, and Diplomacy in Africa, will bring together diplomats, security experts, intelligence agencies, media professionals and global stakeholders to address the growing dangers of fake news and disinformation.

DICAN Chairman, Idehai Frederick, described Jonathan as a credible global voice on democracy and peace, saying his participation adds weight to the summit’s mission of protecting democratic institutions and global security.

The event is expected to attract representatives from over 100 diplomatic missions, including ambassadors from the United States, China, Spain and the European Union, alongside top Nigerian government officials and international organisations.
