IGP Disu Reaffirms Commitment To Safe Schools In Nigeria

With insecurity continuing to threaten access to education in parts of Nigeria, the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to safeguarding schools across the country.

The IGP gave the assurance on May 13, 2026, while receiving AU Special envoy for school children affected by armed conflict, Jainaba Jagne, at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

The meeting centred on strengthening the protection of educational institutions through the Safe Schools Declaration and deepening collaboration with Save the Children International.

IGP Disu stressed that the Police Force would continue to provide adequate security and deploy the necessary resources to ensure schools remain safe and conducive for learning nationwide.
